The Red-headed Woodpecker is easy to spot. About the same size as the more common Red-bellied Woodpecker they always seem much bigger to me. You'll have no trouble telling them apart. The Red-headed Wooddpecker's head is bright red. The upper parts are black and the under parts are white. Pearched and in flight the white secondaries and back are also visiable.
The best spot on the UTC for Red-headed Woodpecker is Jones State Forest. White Memorial Park is also a reliable place. At the time of this writing there was a lot of standing dead timber along SH61 between SH65 and IH10. A careful check from the road might turn up a few here to.
