Le Conte's Sparrow

A small sparrow that winters in the tall weedy wet fields and marsh edges of the UTC. Uncommon and hard to locate, it does respond fairly well to "pishing".

Recognize the Le Conte's Sparrow by its bright buffy face and crown stripe. Sharp-tailed Sparrows lack the crown stripe and have a gray nape compared the brown nape of the Le Conte's.

I have found Le Conte's Sparrows at Anahuac NWR and Bolivar Flats Bird Sanctuary. I think you would have a good chance of finding it at Brazoria NWR, Galveston Island State Park, San Bernard NWR, and Christmas Bay State Park
